TOPIK 2026: Test Dates, Levels, and Fees at a Glance

Here are the 2026 TOPIK test dates, level cutoffs, and domestic fees, drawn from official sources. Dates and fees can change, so confirm on topik.go.kr before you register.

TOPIK (the Test of Proficiency in Korean) measures the Korean ability of people whose first language is not Korean. It is often required for study, work, and residence purposes. The details below are for 2026. Dates and fees can change, so always confirm the latest information on topik.go.kr before you register.

2026 Test Schedule

In 2026 there are 6 paper-based tests (PBT), 6 internet-based tests (IBT), and 3 speaking tests. PBT is held on Sundays and IBT on Saturdays. The domestic test dates are below.

RoundPBT (Sunday)IBT (Saturday)
1January 11February 28
2April 12March 21
3May 17June 13
4July 5September 12
5October 18October 24
6November 15November 28

If you register from outside Korea, the registration period and test date may differ from the domestic schedule. Overseas test takers should confirm separately with their local test center.

PBT vs IBT: What Is the Difference

PBT (paper-based test) means you write your answers on a paper booklet, while IBT (internet-based test) is taken on a computer. Both determine your level, but they are commonly reported to differ in how long the results take to come out. IBT results generally come out faster than PBT, so some people choose IBT when their study or visa schedule is tight.

For the exact result release timing and any differences between formats, check the round-by-round notices on topik.go.kr, since they can vary by round.

How to Register

TOPIK registration is done online. The general flow is as follows.

  • Sign up and log in at topik.go.kr
  • Choose the round and level (TOPIK I or TOPIK II)
  • Confirm your personal details
  • Upload a compliant ID photo
  • Pay the fee
  • Confirm the "registration complete" status

Registration opens at a specific time listed in each round's notice, and popular test centers can fill up quickly. It helps to check the opening time and remaining spots in the notice ahead of time.

The ID photo is commonly reported to require a 3x4cm white-background photo (JPG) taken within the last 6 months, but confirm the exact photo requirements in the round notice.

Levels and Cutoffs

The levels you can earn depend on which test you take. TOPIK I determines levels 1 and 2 out of a total of 200 points, while TOPIK II determines levels 3 through 6 out of a total of 300 points.

The score cutoffs for each level are as follows.
